The First Annual Imagine Brevard BrevardiGras Fundraiser!

Saturday, February 9, 2013, 5:00 p.m. to Midnight

At Oskar Blues Brewery in Brevard

Grab your favorite costume, whatever the theme, and join us for Mardi Gras mountain style!  BrevardiGras is a 21+ event.  Please bring your driver's license for identification. Under 21 and those without ID will not be admitted. Costumes must allow for ID verification.

The purpose of the event is raise funds for community improvement projects in Transylvania County, NC. Imagine Brevard volunteers have identified the funds be specifically used towards downtown area improvement to create or improve pocket parks, gateway signage, and mural designs on downtown Brevard buildings.

Final proceeds will be transferred to Transylvania County’s Community Focus Foundation. The Community Focus Foundation of Transylvania County, NC is a collection of funds established by civic-minded people to meet a wide range of community development needs now and in the future.  By being locally managed, the Foundation reflects the priorities of the community itself. http://www.communityfocusfoundation.org

Schedule of Events

5:00-7:00 p.m. - BrevardiGras Brewhaha Home Brewers Competition and Tasting

Come out and taste some fine home brews, along with Oskar Blues beers and more!  (One-ounce tasters only.  No beer sales from 5-7 p.m.)

7:00 p.m.-Midnight - BrevardiGras Masked Ball Celebration

   7:15 p.m. - Winners of home brewers competition announced

   7:30 p.m. - Dance your beads off with blues and zydeco by Dangerous Gentlemen

   9:00 p.m. - Second line parade and costume showcase

   9:30 p.m. - Get your gras groovy with BrotherBrother

   10:00 p.m. - Best costume winners announced

Parking and Transportation

Parking is available on-site at Oskar Blues.  The Oskar Blues trolley will run service back and forth from Brevard Brewing Company to Oskar Blues starting at 5:00 p.m. and ending at 11:30 p.m.

Food and Drink

The Low Down Food Truck and Tin Can Pizzaria will be on site beginning at 5:00 p.m.  One-ounce beer samples will be available from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Starting at 7:00 p.m., Oskar Blues beers will be available for purchase with beverage ticket or cash.  Soda and water will also be on hand.

Home Brewer Competition Guidelines

Who May Enter
Any Home Brewer who agrees to be present on Saturday, February 9th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oskar Blues Brewery in Brevard, NC to pour their entry for the professional judges (from Oskar Blues Brewery and Brevard Brewing Company) and Brewhaha Tasting participants.  Home Brewers will be provided with table space and signage for their entry.

What to Enter
One beer per Home Brewer may be entered.  Brewer must indicate style of beer entered and enter under one of the following categories: IPA (specifically), beers Light in color, and beers Dark in color. Beer must have been brewed by the Home Brewer that attends the event. Home Brewer must have a minimum of the equivalent of one growler (64 ounces) available to pour.  Any questions regarding categories can be directed to the email address provided below.

How to Enter
Visit http://brevardigras.eventbrite.com and purchase one Home Brewer ticket for $35, then email brevardigras@gmail.com with your contact information and category choice.  Ticket includes a commemorative tasting glass, entry to BrevardiGras from 7:00 p.m. to Midnight, two Oskar Blues Beers and a Mardi Gras mask.

What You Can Win
A $250 prize will be awarded to the winner of each category, as deemed by the professional judges. Oskar Blues will brew the overall winning beer on their pilot system and then pour it in the Tasty Weasel tap room.  An award will also be given to the winner of the "People's Choice Brew".
